New Xgig®
Features Available! |
|
Xgig
has new functionality for both SAS/SATA and Fibre Channel continuing
the tradition of providing the most complete set of tools for your
protocol testing and analysis needs! This summer Finisar released
Jammer and Generator for SAS/SATA and will release
Load Tester for Fibre Channel shortly.
The Finisar
Jammer is an Xgig-based
blade and software combination that will allow its users to
test that devices within a
network recover from a variety of error conditions without data
loss or corruption. With Xgig Jammer, testers can manipulate traffic
on a connection between two actual network devices, in real-time,
and verify that the devices respond as expected.
The Xgig Generator
connects to users' systems and supports arbitrary creation of SAS
protocol traffic at 1.5, 3.0, or 6.0 Gb/s, and SATA traffic at 1.5
and 3.0 Gb/s, allowing emulation of either SAS or SATA devices. The
tool also includes support for the SAS sub-protocols, Serial SCSI
Protocol (SSP), SATA Tunneling Protocol (STP) and SAS Management
Protocol (SMP). With Generator, companies can accelerate bring-up,
regression, and manufacturing testing—to name just a few
possibilities.
The Xgig Fibre Channel Load Tester eliminates
the need for creating complex test setups comprised of multiple
servers and storage arrays by enabling users to construct
fully-meshed data communication topologies, generate traffic loads,
and monitor both transmitted and received data streams. |

FCoE
Blog Launched!
The following is a blurb from our latest article on our new FCoE
blog!
Excellent progress is being made in the design and deployment
of reliable FCoE equipment. However, for
FCoE to become one of the standards that reaches market faster than others, those
companies invested in its success must take a firm hand in overcoming the
concerns
that threatens to forestall its advantages. Clearly, counting on the industry to accept FCoE because it's a good
idea is not enough.
- What
other fear factors threaten to delay FCoE?
- What can the industry as a whole do to address these fears?

FCoE Interoperability Testing Underway!
On June 4th, Finisar participated at a QLogic hosted "Test Drive"
event with over 50 software engineers and developers from over a
dozen companies to test hardware and software interoperability. The
next FCoE interoperability testing will be held at UNH the week of
September 15th and is hosted by the FCIA.
